Fun and Funky Sites
The following are a few sites that I enjoy frequenting, followed by reasons, I suppose because I feel a need to justify my tastes. No, actually it's just because you might want to have an idea of where you're going before you go. I know I do! It only goes hand in hand with two of traveling's rules: Leave Time to Get Lost, and Buy a Map Before You Get There.
ISCA BBS
Ironically, I've never met such a large group of people who feel collectively compelled to pretend to be who they're not. Suddenly the guys are full of steroids and machismo, and the girls are seductresses. Some of them feel that they must do this in order to be accepted, but I get along just fine without it. With that kind of intro, you may wonder why I'm including this place on my list. Well, fortunately, not everyone who goes there is like that. I've met some truly interesting people there and enjoy talking to them. Otherwise, I go there for the "brain candy" aspect--kind of the same reasoning behind prime time television. I can check my brain at the door and literally (since there's a forum called "Babble") babble away an hour or two. When I do feel like thinking, ISCA also offers several forums on many different topics that are open for discussion. ISCA is located at bbs.isca.uiowa.edu and its IP address is 128.255.95.69.
The LAB Home Page
Our sister Windy has donated a large part of her time to a site for a group of my closest friends, the LABs. We're not a real frasrority (bouys and gulls both welcome)--we just started hanging out together. Some of us knew some others of us in high school, but for the most part we all met in college. So on Windy's Home Page are a few pics of our wild 'n' crazy crew. We don't charge dues, we just chug booze! Not that I do that kind of thing anymore....
J. Scott Schrader Photography
Scott was my workstudy boss during my college career. His official title is Media Specialist, but in his case, that means photographer. Besides being the one (besides Liza, the videographer) they call when there's an event at St. Mary's U that needs immortalizing, he also has his own nature photography business. I'm including him not only because I really like his work, but also because I owe him a great deal of thanks for his help with my book, portfolio, and this web site. Visit his site and look for "Wolf Eyes", my absolute favorite.
